O Mon Power company: Successfully installs 145 ton steam drum

A steam drum which is 17m in length and 145 tons in weight, an important equipment being considered “the heart of the power company”, has been heaved off and safely installed by the constructing force in the construction site of O Mon thermal power company.

At 8 a.m. on October 16, 2007, the steam drum was popped up by Vietnam Electricity and Vietnam Installation General Company and the contractor Mitsubishi. The process was expected to last for 30 hours. However, at 16 p.m., the first super-sized equipment of the project has been successfully elevated to the height of 40m. 

 

To guarantee the safety, constructing forces has made use of a modern hanger system and hydraulic rail lifting jack with lifting capacity of 200 tons to hold the steam drum to the installed place. 

 

According to Lilama, in keeping with installing the steam drums and other super-sized equipments like turbines, substations, etc., more than 13 thousand tons of other equipments are still being manufactured and installed for O Mon thermal power company by 18; 45-1; 45-2 installation companies and Lisemco. Currently, nearly 8 thousand tons of equipments has been manufactured and installed, accounting for 60% of the planned proportion. 

 

Estimatedly, the rest proportion of O Mon thermal power company will be completed by Lilama in January 2008. 

 

O Mon thermal company No.1 is one of 4 projects on constructing thermal power plants belonging to O Mon Thermal Power Center in Can Tho province. This company is totally invested USD 555 million (VND 6,666 billion), of which 85% is from Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) through preference capital resource ODA of Japanese Government. 

 

O Mon Thermal Power Company No.1 consists of two units, each unit is 330MW. As expected, when operating, the company will provide the power production of about 3.6 billion kWh annually.
