EVNNPT leaders witnessing moment of energizing Quang Trach - Quynh Luu 500kV line at Thanh Hoa 500kV substation.
The Quang Trach – Quynh Luu 500kV line project is 226 km long, passing through the provinces of Quang Binh, Ha Tinh, and Nghe An. The project has 463 pole foundation locations, of which 237 pole locations are on mountains, passing through many complex terrains. In the 197 corridor anchor intervals, 7 anchor intervals cross large rivers and lakes, and 15 anchor intervals cross-national highways.
The project was implemented on 18 January 2024 and was approved and agreed on energization by the Investor-level Acceptance Council on 24 August 2024.
After completion, the project will help reduce the load and avoid overloading existing 500kV lines, ensuring the N-1 criteria, especially when the transmission capacity is high along the Central-North interface at a time when hydropower plants in the North generate low power. The line also helps to increase the stable transmission reserve on the Central - North interface, combined with the sections of the Quynh Luu - Thanh Hoa - Nam Dinh I - Pho Noi 500kV line, as well as the completed circuit-3 lines from Pleiku 2 - Doc Soi - Quang Trach, contributing to supplementing capacity from power sources in the South Central region to the load center in the North.

EVNNPT leaders said: To meet the required progress, in a short period, many work items were deployed simultaneously such as construction and installation, pole erection, wire pulling, positioning frame installation, and technical calibration. Therefore, in addition to the main force of construction and installation contractors, forces from EVNNPT and 5 Power Corporations were mobilized to participate in supporting the construction with a large number of qualified, experienced, and skilled workers.
The completion and energization of the project meeting the requirements of the Prime Minister's direction is a great motivation for the entire construction site of the circuit - 3 500kV line project to complete acceptance and inauguration in the coming days according to the direction of the Prime Minister.
The Quang Trach – Quynh Luu 500kV transmission line project is the final component project of the circuit-3 500kV line project from Quang Trach to Pho Noi. Previously, EVNNPT completed the energization of the Thanh Hoa 500kV substation on 28 June 2024, the Nam Dinh 1 Thermal Power Plant – Thanh Hoa 500kV transmission line project was completed on 30 June 2024, the 500kV transmission line project of Quynh Luu – Thanh Hoa and Nam Dinh 1 Thermal Power Plant – Pho Noi were completed energization on 19 August 2024.
